I am not going to fault them for the missing space because I am going to venture a guess and say that the letter height is dictated by law. So they had to make the appropriately sized letters fit their sign.
Now, call me a pedant, but I actually think this should be ‘Oversized Load’. But given that we have ‘man-size tissues’ and ‘box sets’ these days, rather than ‘man-sized tissues’ and ‘boxed sets’, I can see that the writing is on the wall (but not on the signs) for this particular grammatical peccadillo.
