Vegetarian Fed

If Washington State has a sudden rise in hippie disappearances, this could be why.

being a vegetarian, i’ll be sure to avoid washington state. nonetheless, i am fascinated by the person who is astute enough to catch that and who has the time to read the egg carton. my kind of word-nerd.

Maybe they hire vegetarians to feed the hens?

Also, what kind of newfangled measurement is an OOmg? (The zeros in the 100 are actually the letter O.)

Gordy, I worship at the shrine of your creativity!
I laughed until I cried.

Being an astute member of the church of omnivorous, I’ve got to ask: Aren’t chickens vegetarian by default? I used to raise chickens and I recall them quite clearly not eating meat.

Good catch, AA! It could just be the font (but still, what crappy font has near-identical characters for O and 0?)

Gordy, do the applicants know they’re being hired to feed the chickens? I mean you’d have to have one heck of a Human Resources department that would be able to talk someone into giving up their lives for the sake of eggs. And I would hope that the pay scale wouldn’t be based on a hourly wage.

Joseph – chickens aren’t vegetarians normally. They eat insects and such as well. Technically, I don’t think there’s any reason for chickens to be vegetarian-fed, and it may actually be bad for them. Now, being free-range and organic is another story; that’s great.

My bad, I did forget about the insects and worms. It’s been over 10 years since I raised them.
My chickens were sort of free range. We had a coup where they could sleep but they spent 90% of their time outside. Our dog was good at rounding them up at feeding time (basic grain feed with some vitamins added).

We have these so-called ‘Vegetarian fed’ hens in Australia too.
Is it that they’re feeding vegetarians to the hens? Or is it that these hens are vegetarian?
..If the latter is the case, then I’d rather buy these eggs than the carnivourous hen eggs, thank you.
